The new Indy cars.
I'm a fan of most racing. Even if I don't know alot about the particular type. The new Indy car design is stupendous from a technological and safety standpoint. The looks of 'em have alot to be desired. I can get over that but what I can't get over is the turbocharged V6's. Though EXTREMELY fast, THEY SOUND LIKE SHIT. I'm watching NBC and keep expecting that V8 roar and instead I hear a vacuum cleaner. It seems soulless.
I would tie this in with upcoming M3/4 but what's the point.

Miss the V8 roar? Wait till you hear a clip of the old V10s... You know, the ones that were produced from the same foundry as the S85 symphony orchestra in the old M5/6

I agree, the new cars are butt-ugly and sound like crap. I can't think of any V-6 that sounds good. If they wanged out to 20,000 rpm they'd sound good.
Indy cars for years now have basically been spec racers, so I'm already jaded, but the newest cars just look gahay-hay. That said, anything going 200mph-plus is cool, but I grew up watching racing when there was variety, lots of different designs, engines, tires. F1 still has most of the aspects I love about racing. |

Yeah, F1 is going from 2.4 litre V8's to 1.6 litre FI V6's. That's gonna suck IMO too.

Indycar never had V10's. Their hayday of CART were turbo V8's which were awesome. Close to 1000 hp and much less down force than today.
I do think the new cars look a bit funky, but they look pretty cool as well. Their sound is decent I think, sounds like the late 80's early 90's Turbo F1 cars.

From next year the DW12 Indycar will look different, the teams will be able to design and use their own sidepods, engine cowling and front and rear aero.

Doubtful considering the strict restrictions on body configurations...

It's not doubtful it's what is actually going to happen, for 2012 season the standard Dallara aero package is being used by all teams, from 2013 the teams will be able to use their own aero kit. If a team decides to manufacture a kit they then have to offer it for sale to other teams, Chevy, Lotus and Penske are all developing kits.
