Interesting Things You Found Others May Not Know or Notice
Just curious what if you guys found some interesting things or little tips & tricks yabout the Z4 that others may not know or notice?
Let me start. I noticed that with the iDrive, you can just touch the preset numbers on the stereo and it will tell you what it is set on (radio station or nav destination) on the nav screen. You don't have to press on it. One thing you may or may not notice is that the instrument cover follows the hood line, neat little design detail. I also found out that if you are reversing with the door wide open, the parking brakes will lock-up. Before anyone asks, I was reversing with the door wide open because I had to maneuver the car over something in reverse. Good safety feature I guess. Care to share anything interesting you found in your E89 ownership?

You can actually use those preset buttons for a whole host of options, not just radio stations. Phone numbers, car functions, etc...

This is what I find interesting.... why will the car "roll" forward or backward on a slight slope (DCT). Makes me almost feel like driving a manual. If backing out of a packing spot on a slight slope I have to remember to go fairly quickly from brake to accelerator or you get the roll feeling. Never had this with an automatic before. There is probably an explanation that will make me feel stupid for bringing it up!

The 35i's DCT is a manual. A computer controlled dual clutch manual transmission. Especially going into a gear there is a moment of being de-clutched. But upshifts & downshifts are pre-engaged with the alternate clutches so no disconnect can be felt in that case. There is a brake hold feature but it is not long enough in some cases.
