Does it open further or is that the farthest it can go? If it is, it looks very difficult to get in the car.

How is that possible? On stock doors, when opened up, I can literally jump in there w/o a problem like some Cirque Du Soleil acrobat, I can't imagine getting in with the door propped up like that unless it opens out further.

i would not do it for many reasons . . . but that is one of the reasons car ownership is fun as hell: to each his own

The more I see of all kind of mods, the more happy I am over the original look. (ok, i changed to the short original antenna and will change to BMW performance brakes if it ever comes to the E89)
I feel a unmodded car will be very rare in the year to come. Timeless elegance as one of the forum-members wrote some time ago, i don't have the heart to change that! Maby it's an age thing........... |

like someone said before, this types of mod should be at the end of a project, not the start. if you already made your car into a monster, might as well go all the way home.
but knowing the chinese market, I actually think this thing works to the owner's expectations, MOAR ATTENTION. it does that perfectly when you park it in front of a club and act like a giant cock. not really a bad thing in china.

I wish I could agree with this but the lack of aftermarket support will keep most E89 stock. The most common upgrade will be the stubby antenna and wheels and that is pretty much it.

Didn't pay much attention on (in) the english lessons. I bought the 35i because of it's beauty. It is in the same class like the 67 Camaro and Corvette. Just fell in love with it. Wanted the 35iS performance and really tried to talk my dealer into upgrade the software on the 35i for me (I know, stupid thought) Wanted the 326 wheels but then I had to get the M-sport package with that strange bolt-on looking rear wich I think totally destroyes the harmony of the car. But that's me, others think differently wich is good otherwise we wouldn't have so much to discuss about on ZPOST. Keep on modding, mine will stay original-original (before BMW facelifts/mods) Dare refuse stubby antennas! |

I personally think that in a rollover situation, these doors could be dangerous. It's the same situation as the Merc gull wing doors. You can't open them when the car on its back but Merc's solution is explosive bolts.
How would these doors open?

I have no doubt you can get in, but it seems like you need to go sideways to squeeze in? I could be wrong but I still don't see how it's easier to get inside with the door open that way than hopping on the stock door open like this.
The door open horizontally and then vertically. So on a roll, my guess is you can still open is horizontally, just not all the way?
