3-series Performance Rims 313 on Z4
Hi,
I need some advise from you wheel and rim experts. This coming summer I will replace my 335i with a Z4 35i. I spent quite some money on the 3 series performance wheel 313, which is also available for the Z4, but has a different part number. Now BMW told me I would not be able to use the 3 series 313 wheels on the Z4 because they wouldn't fit. I've heard this argument a thousand times before in regards to other wheels and people were still able to do it, by using some technical magic (of which I am unaware - I am a technical idiot, at least when it comes to cars). Does anyone know if it is somehow possible to take my beloved wheels with me and mount them on the Z4? Thanks! |

Thanks. But it appears they were talking about fitting the 18 inch version of the 313 from the 1 series to the Z4. To make that work, they used spacers.
However, my problem is I am already having the 19 inch 313 from the 3-series, which have a different offset than the 313 for the Z4. The 313 for the 3 series is not the same as the 313 for the Z4. So my question remains, is it possible to use the 3-series 313 on a Z4. Thanks |

I must be ignorant of some issue - but we opted for the 19" performance wheels that were optional if you bought the sport package and they obviously fit; how could it be that your 19" BMW 3 series wheels wouldn't fit?????

Ok let's try again. If you look at the BMW parts catalog for wheels, you will find out that there are three different versions of the 313 wheel. One for the 1 series, one for the 3 series, and one for the Z4. All of them have different part numbers, and from my understanding, different offsets. When I originally bought the 313 rims for my 335i I asked the dealer if they would also fit on the Z4 and he said no. So there are two reasons why I think they won't fit. Unless you apply some magic (spacers?). |

Thanks for compliments
Well if the 3 series rims are too "fat", then spacer won't work. I'd have to cut some metal away We'll see. I am confident there is a solution. |

If it fits the regular 3 series it should fir the Z4. The offset of the wheels should be around 30-40mm.
For the 5 and 6 series, the offset is 10-20mm. You can still put 5 series wheels on the Z4, they'll just stick out more. |

What exactly does offset mean here? If you say the offset is around 30-40 mm, does that mean the 3-series rims are 3-4 cm wider than the Z4 counterpart, or is it the opposite? So if they are wider, it means the wheels would stick out 3-4 more centimeters than the original Z4 wheel? And if they are smaller, there would be a 3-4 centimeter gap, which is undesired and would be "filled" by spacers? If they stick out more, does this have any effect on the driving, handling...? Thanks for shedding some light on this for me. Much appreciated! Cheers |

I think, it will fit on your Z4 for sure coz I've installed my rims as offset as in my E90. It's ET +32 on front and ET +35 on rear. Also the tire size which is the same as in E90...Front 235/35 R19 and rear 265/30 R19.
So go for it... |
