Resetting the Adaptive Driver Memory for the Automatic Transmission
Just came across the following thread and was curious to know if anyone here had already tried it on the new Z4.
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=411543 NB: I'm not suggesting anyone try it as I have no idea if it works and/or what effect it will have on the car. Just curious to know if anyone has and if they have what happened. |

Not sure if it also applies to the DCT available on the 35i's but interesting all the same.
Hey.....maybe in a couple of months after it's had the chance to learn my driving style/habits I won't even have to touch the accelerator peddal at all. It'll do it all by itself. Even funnier (or possibly not if you're me) will be my girlfriends face when she uses the car once it's learnt my (sporty) driving style when she pulls away from the lights. Should save a little money on her going to the hairdressers and having her curly hair straightened!! |

willysp: that's interesting. I always thought and was informed that the auto transmissions weren't able to learn. Your comment and those of the posters on the link I posted would seem to indicate otherwise.
I don't suppose you saw how he reset the transmission did you? I have a 30i with auto and find it just fine. Admittedly the car is new (just over 2 weeks old) and haven't tried a 35i with DCT to be able to compare but I'm pleased with mine for now. Having said that you don't miss something unless you've had it or tried it so may change my tune if I try a 35i with DCT. |

If you know anybody that owns the Bavarian Technic cable, you can reset it with that. I noticed the feature one day while checking for tuner codes on my car. Many tuned 335 owners have this cable/software.

Tried this on Friday on my car, 23i, which is car 5 months old with 5000 miles on the clock, and I'm sure it made the gear changes a lot better, sportier even, in normal mode, so much so that I never had it in sport today.
Maybe this would be best to do after the run in period? |

Here's my problem regarding this...I drive in manual mode but as you know, the tansmission downshifts by itself as you slow down. I find that it doesn't shift down quite enough when I'm, for example, turning around a corner. I wind up having to downshift one more gear to get the rpm's right. Does resetting the ECU address this issue?
