Run Flat Tires
Well it happened. Low tire pressure warning and I have a nail smack in the middle of my front tire. The good news is that the nail is in the middle of the tire. I have contacted a reputable tire company and have been told that they can plug and patch the tire.
What are the groups thoughts on this? I only have 3,000 miles on the tire and it is like new. Should I plug patch it or buy a new tire for $250.00 +? What are the drawbacks to plug patching a run flat tire? This sucks balls. |

I had a plug put on my '03 Z4 runflat shortly after I bought it and in three years I never had an issue with the plugged tire.

If you're going to get a nail in your tyre then you want it in the middle as that's the safest place to plug a tyre.
Go ahead and have the tyre plugged. |

I've had the "patch and plug" done to two different run flat tires. As long as the nail is not on the outside edge, its fine to patch.

i got the warning light a couple weeks ago...left front tire looked fine and pressure was low but not much and was equal to the other tire. I checked the back two tires and they matched each other, and equally low. I aired them up to what they are supposed to be per the manual, re-initialized the system, and havent had an issue since...just something strange i thought id share
