BMW Z4 E89 Downpipe development?
So what's going on with the major Manufacturers/Tuners building Downpipes for the N54 Powered Z4's? Any Updates from the Vendors of the forum or anyone else? Something under development? Or should we go the "custom fabrication" route?

True, im already smoking alot of 335's (and of course 535's) in stock vs. stock form. This car has a beautiful setup and weight ratio that makes the launch control fully utilized... If only it had a factory LSD... AND SOME DAMN PERFORMANCE UPGRADES :P

Ok so far the only company that sell's fabricated Downpipes for the E89 35i Z4 is from Greece and called speed and style. It offers cattles and catted downpipes but are REALLY expensive.
Here's the link with the photo's, although its in Greek... http://www.speedandstyle.gr/index.php?sid=30&cid=27

http://mg.tk-square.jp/products/03_e...zer/index.html works out to $4400USD in case anyone is interested. well i have been running a 335i modified dps for a year and happy to say it runs just fine! |

These dp are installed on 3 cars here. All run without issues. They are fabricated at the shop that made my exhaust, it's highly reputated. They use HJS cats which are the most reliable on the market and expensive of course. Their price is 1000 euros catless and 2000 euros catted, at least a few months back. Perhaps you could get a better deal, try to contact speedandstyle.gr.
If you are located in Cal why don't you shoot Andrew@ar-design a pm? They are looking for a car to test-fit their dp, you will get a great deal for your help and you will save the rest of us and our pockets. |

I'd love to take one for the team but I am out on the East Coast so testing would not work. I will wait for AR to get there catted DPs tested then. The other dps from Eurpoe are way too expensive. I think with shipping they come to something like $3K. The AR dps for the other N54 engines are $1K. Thanks for the info. Best, Shashi

GREEK to ENGLISH translation using: http://www.stars21.com/translator/greek_to_english.html
Downpipes are available in the Speed & Style is made from 100% stainless steel. Includes slots for lambda sensors to factory positions. Available catalysts free flow HJS Tuning with 200 against 400 cells with the factory. With the free flow of exhaust increases horsepower while reducing resistance to Turbo so more torque available at lower supporting rev range. There is also a version without catalysts. |

I wouldn't sweat it to much downpipes don't make that large of a difference I had them on my 1 I would rather just get methanol and a tune and call it a day.

Car with Meth/tune vs. same car with Meth/tune/DP is quite a difference and if you dont believe me try to run your car against a full bolts ons car. The non constrained DP's allow the Turbos to spool faster and gain up to 20hp to the wheels (or more with a full exhaust system) but depends if you buy cheap crappy one's or not. I guess it all depends if you want the max performance out of your car or not.

Reason I ask is because if it's simply the flange (i.e. something like a 3 bolt vs. a 4 bolt flange) Than having a custom midpipe or full exhaust fabricated wouldn't be a big deal. However, if the actual flange needs to be cut so that an angle could be changed, that's a different story! |
