Love that look - even covered with snow - it has an attitude!

Here in the Balkans we get four seasons - sometimes... Not so much that I wanted to shell out for the winter tyres.
Just for emergency's sake I gave these a go http://www.autosock.co.uk/ and to my huge surprise they actually worked. The missus works up a 30% gradient mountain where the temperature drops around 4 degrees C compared to home. Twice now I got stuck half way up, extremely embarrassing as the Punto's etc. flew past me. Fixed these things on 'in-situ' and went up like a dream. Not even a tell tale ABS crunch on braking. Not advocating for a long drive, no experience of it yet. But really pleasantly surprised that a low cost solution actually works. For the record, get some weight in the boot as well if you want a little more traction. |

Are many people having issues with the door seals freezing, resulting in not being able to open the doors? It happens here when it's damp and then freezes over night but BMW dealership just shrug their shoulders when I mentioned it... It's a pain in the backside, especially when I leave the de-icer in the car.. lol |

Get some Gummi-Phledge from BMW... spray it on a cloth and wipe it on the seals... works a treat for me. Stops the water penetrating the seal and sticking to the glass.

Gummi Pflege ("rubber care" in German) is reported to help a lot with this problem for those who have it. |

+1 Have had no problem opening the car or with creaks, even in temperatures in the single digits (Fahrenheit), thanks to Gummi Pfledge.

It's more fun than my wife's X3 which, btw, I did drive this morning. Our plow guy went over an embankment in his truck so I had about a foot of snow in the driveway and 3 feet at the end. The zettie certainly would not have made it out to the road.
After I got home, my 16 y/o and I took the zettie out to the high school to practice doughnuts in the parking lot. I deeply believe that the only way to be safe in a skid or spin is to have experience driving in skids or spins |

I especially like the little icicles hanging from the front bumper.
Oh, and I drive 500km a week every week as my only car - its my commuter. (With the exception of when I drive the kids around or go off road in the family truckster.) Makes driving to work a joy and the soccer run a chore. I may fix thins by getting the new X5 40d sports. ANyone have one and can they can recommend it? I'm told (by the dealer - therefore been lied to) that the power and acceleration increases dramatically after it has been run in for 10,000km. I know - wrong thread - I'll go and ask the X5 guys....

We had about that much snow today and I was pleasantly surprised by how planted the Z4 was to the road. I even tried to fool around with it in an empty parking lot but it was quite hard to make it spin. It's quite confidence-inspiring.
I noticed that some Mercs (I think RWD C-class) and vans were slipping around a bit, so I guess either they don't have good traction control like our cars and/or they are using their gas pedal too much. |

Click for some fun snow videos I managed to wash my Z yesterday just before it started to snow again My Z sure handles nice with my snow winter set of wheels the Michelin ICE sure provide a nice grip as long as one is gentle on the gas pedal
