Mixing Bridgestone Blizzak LM25 and LM60
Hello,
I have ordered a set of 18" Miro Type 942 (18x8.5 ET35 & 18x9.5 ET35) wheels for my Z4 and I am going to use for winter tires. Only option I can see is buying 225/40/18 Bridgestone Blizzak LM 60 for front and 255/35/18 Bridgestone Blizzak LM 25 for rear. In tire rack they say only to use in set of 4 and I can see thread pattern is different in both tires. Do you think I will face any problems? Or any other recommendations also highly appreciated. Thanks AJ |

Strange, I was able to order LM-25's in both 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 on my Z.... why would you mix them ? (LM-25 and LM-60)

Don't mix and match. Get LM-25 at all 4 corners. If you can't find a size, go a size narrower (smaller is better for winter tires.)

Don't mix. You may end up with a handling nightmare.

Hello,
Thanks for all the replies. I talk to Tirerack, com today and they say LM-25's are discontinued and there are no winter tires for my wheel combination. Therefore I am going to change my wheels order to all 4 in 18x8.5 ET35 and will go with 225/40/18. Thanks AJ |

Smart move. In deeper snow the narrower tires will actually perform better.

About mixing and matching tires - if you aren't going to take your car to the track / do stupid stunts on the road pushing the limits then it honestly isn't going to matter. I have driven plenty of cars that just happened to have different tires front/rear. Even ones that have had 4 different BRANDS of tires at each corner! Never had an issue because I knew not to push it too far.
Now Im not recommending you go ahead and mess around with different brands, just letting you know that in a pinch and if you drive sensibly you won't come to any harm. Of course a lot of ppl buy a Z4 to NOT drive sensibly .... |
