It depends on where you live. I live in Australia. Its sunny ALL the time, so we can drive top down daily. I always drive home from work with the top down.
But some of the clan on this board live in snowy areas and they dont even drive the car in winter! |

The weather here in the 'Burgh has only just recently cracked the 50F mark. I have not driven with the top down yet except for the short jaunt around the neighborhood when I first brought the car home. It was 36F that day....a little chilly even with the heat cranked as well as the seat heaters.
Driving in today this AM, it was 31F. If I had driven with the top down, the wind chill would have killed me...albeit, with a smile on my face.

Ditto, I try to crack it open even if I have to bundle up, but only once at 45f. Once it climbs over 60, I'll never put the top up, unless it rains.

I answered occasionally but I generally try to drive it with the top down when in the 70s or 80s. Unless on a long interstate drive. That means afternoons in the spring and fall and mornings in the hot Charlotte summer. I drop the top more than expected when I bought the car but its a great stress relief on the way home from work.
I started a thread stating today was the first real day for top down weather.

Thanks everyone for paticipating.
for me: I usually drive Z4 only in the evening or at night, 50% of the time with top down

I'm inclined to withdraw the top when the forecast is over 65F and the sun is not preposterously blinding me from the front. I invariably favor the sun behind me. Customarily if it gets immensely hot in the bay area I prefer being topless early morning or subsequent in the afternoon. As long as it's not unduly cold or the sun pummeling down.

My answer is often. If the drive is shorter than 10-15 min then I don't drop the top.
I guess I also have different idea of nice weather for top down than most people. For me the best time is early morning or late evening/night. Best temp for me is around 40F to 80F. I don't like it when its really hot and sunny. --ricardo

Not yet, not yet. It's been a cold 'winter' in Belgium. At least I know it works 'cause I keep testing it at home.
