DICE iPod interface install
Has anyone done this install yet?
Where is the CD changer cable located? I'm asking before I rip things apart (and regret it later) Any info is appreciated. Also, where can I get the factory service manual? Thanks, Marc |

a factory service/workshop manual is not available in bmw, as dealer (at least here in Italy and a good part of european countries) are starting to use online services instead the TIS(tech info service from BMW) , the WDS(wiring diagrams still at version 12.0 from 9/2007), and other staff ...
there's the asap(after sales portal) for dealers that gives the infos online by a big server with everything in it.so no more cdroms, dvds and other goodies we can use and abuse for our cars....bad if you consider that wirings are more useful than BMW think also for a normal inspection.... now back to your first question: cable is located behind the passenger glovebox, if you have the prep for cd changer..... if not you have to buy it..my friend was told so by the dealer... further info about ipod interfaces in my previous tread..... http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336771 |

I suggest that you DO NOT BUY A DICE.
They are terribly made, have very little quality control, and when they work are still infuriating to use. Here's what I did with mine: |

dension 500 is better for sure, and you can still retain cd changer if your car has got it, with BMW interface you have usually to get rid of it....

maybe i missed some background info, but how come you don't get the bmw retrofit?
if you have 30,000 songs in an ipod, why would you want a cd changer??

if you like good music, you also like to lesten to it properly....Listen a cd and then an mp3 at 192kbps.....I can notice the difference, specially for old songs I never found with good bitrate....So if you think your car is quiet enough to listen properly cd's, why not to retain the original cdchanger?

a lot of people can't tell the difference, specially with traffic noise, road noise and engine noise. so having dozens of CD's in your car doesn't make sense. i'm an audiophile too, but in the car i want to listen to the engine and exhaust.
