Also note the slightly different colored bumpers. I wonder if thats Melbourne Red like the M3 or Vermillion Red like the X6?

M Sport does not equal M
No quad exhausts, just an M Sport version as it was properly titled... As for a bump in HP, I would think that since BMW recently released an optional bump in HP for $1400 for 3ers that that would also be an option here. I would guess $1400 in addition to the additional cost for the M-Sport package...

I think we can look for an M version of the Z4 after the next generation M3 with turbo-6 debuts, M Roadster will probably sport the same engine, which according to some sources may even be a V6 god forbid! Same situation as the last M Roadster will appear 3 model years after this, with the facelifted Z4. By then the economy should be friendlier. Just a thought.

Yeah! I think they must have painted black ones because they look darker (almost like mechanic with dirty hands smudges) at the seams where the bumper meets the body panel. Last edited by teagueAMX; 09-18-2009 at 06:45 AM.. |

Considering that BMW had to give away the last Z4M at the end of it's model with $10K under MSRP pricing why would they even consider making another one at this time.
The new Z4 35i is priced in the low to Mid $50s about the same price as the last Z4M. A new M version would have to be prices in the $60s which is a little on the high side for the performance this car would provide. |

Would they go through all that without a nice bump in HP? Hopefully that thing is going to have at least another 50 HP under the hood.

I guess this one will be the sDrive40i, model year '11. Model year '12 will replace the N52 engine by a 2.0L turbo (>210Hp) and 3.0L (>270Hp), both direct full injection (EURO5).

I would guess the 3.5M has the Performance package BMW just released for the 335i and 135i. This adds extra water cooling capacity ( a secondary heat exchanger) and increases the boost slightly to produce an additional 23 wheel HP.
Less than what you can get by adding the ESS, GAIC, or the piggies ( 50 to 80+ hp), but under the BMW warranty. All of this in addition to the current 275 wheel or 306 crank standard hp.

Copyright Carpix / BMW Z4 with M-Sport Package Caught Testing on Nurburgring
By Thami Masemola September 17, 2009 8:06 PM Filed Under: BMW, German, Spy Photos The Z4 M is no longer going into production and leaves us with a slight feeling of dissatisfaction upon viewing these photos. The words "consolation prize" spring to mind. BMW is not the only one of course; Mercedes-Benz will not bring out a proper AMG model for the new E-Class Coupe but will instead offer an AMG sport package. However, it's in the M-sport spirit that fans need to take in these spy pictures of a Z4 kitted out in M-Sport clothes. It looks very agile as it corners around the Nürburgring. Had it not been for a few telltale signs like the two exhaust pipes and side mirrors one would have certainly been fooled into thinking an about-face turn on the Z4 M had been made. The M-Sport kit will consist mostly of larger wheels, different front and rear bumpers, M badges inside and out as well as a tighter suspension system. The model caught by our spies is the range-topping sDrive35i, however the package would probably be offered for the full Z4 range. Hopefully, BMW execs will change their mind and offer the real deal. |

I'm really curious how much different the M-Sport Package would be.
I understand the bit about cosmetic parts, and the current Z4 is already offered with M Adaptive suspension and larger wheels. Different programing? Will is consist of larger diameter stabilizer bars? More hp/tq? |
