It's good to see them adding a driver-centric element to the IP. I'm not a fan of the recent symmetric IPs on BMWs. I like the classic ones where the center stack was canted towards the driver.

i think the way the side looks compared to the CS makes me believe the 5 series will carry this design as the shadow lines on the 7 are straight

I think the car looks very good. And may I add thank goodness the US finally get DCT as an option. Now if that can just trickle over to the 1/3 Series. Tii anyone?

WTF!!!
Probably on my own with this one, but I think I hate it....
The interiors too busy, I don't think the popup screen looks finished, that gearstick looks awful, and what's with the heater controls, couldn't they make their minds up whether to use buttons or knobs, all very fussy and untidy. Then onto the exterior... I will concede the front looks quite nice and well resolved, especially in the pics of the blue version. I like the z3 style bonnet with the integrated wings. but the rear has no identity and the profile looks awful, the way the rear just falls off into the ground, and I really don't think they 'needed' to do a folding hardtop version. The sacrifice of the awkward shut lines around the rear don't make up for a folding hardtop, audi and porsche haven't given in to putting folding hartops on all there models and I think bmw could have done the same here, rather than giving into the 'slk' crowd, so much for the ultimate driving machine, looks like there aiming for the ultimate posing machine!!! I guess I should reserve judgement until the coupe comes along and I see one in the metal, but for the time being I won't be giving up my 06 z4 coupe, even if it hasn't got the twin turbo engine and fancy gearbox. Big thumbs down from me |

5.1 seconds 0-60. Thats current M territory. Plus the aftermarket is already there for the twin turbo. I ll wait for the coupe version , not feeling the retractable hardtop, looks great dont get me wrong but I love my coupe but I like the looke of the hardtop. I dont think an M version is really applicable here. 5.1 0-60 is fast, although I would definatly love to get a coupe with the M3 V-8 as the M motor, but ill wait and see my lease runs out in late 09, and I already have been socking away money in the bank just for this purchase. its definatly a M THIS TIME AROUND IF AVAILABLE.

Wow--a glove box that might actually hold the owner's manual!. Great dash--much less of the look of a "slab" of wood or (highly reflective) aluminum. Could there possibly be room in the trunk for a...SPARE TIRE? Could run-flats be gone; could a spare be "optional"? Or is there just no room there when the steel top's down (like the new 3-series convertible)?
Overall tho, nice design continuity; the previous Z4's not out of style. Monaco Si |
