Can adaptive cruise be retro-fitted?
Can't believe it doesn't come with the driving package. Std on the cheapest of cars.
That said, is the radar there and simply not programmed to work? I know steering wheel would need new buttons, but can it be added? Thanks. |

You can retrofit ACC on a car without it, just like you can fit M3 bumpers on a 330i if you want to. I'd expect the cost and effort of both of those installations would be not that dissimilar.
Agreed on it being crazy that ACC isn't standard across the board. My gf's 6 year old manual Civic Sport has adaptive cruise control, but if you buy anything other than a new X3 or a car with a 7 in the name, you have to pay almost 2 grand for the privilege. On most Audis until about 2 years ago, you didn't even have the option for adaptive cruise on the base trim. I know that everything's an option on "luxury" cars, but I could probably name more luxury cars that don't have ACC standard than economy cars that don't. |
