Same oil additive: "I gained 5HPs...he lost 5 bearings"
In summary: "Person A using the same product as Person B says he gained 5 horsepower...Person B says he lost 5 bearings. Who is telling the truth? Both!"

it's not the additives. use the oils that actually tested to meet BMW specs, not just claim to meet specs.
cringe yourself every time you do a cold start (no oil pressure, and you hope there is actually a layer of oil between the metal-on-metal at that time). make sure the engine is warm before you push the power. make sure the engine and turbo cools down before you kill the engine. never use auto-start stop (it does a cold start every time, it does not let the engine cool down before it kills the engine) and cringe the next time you do a cold start ... rinse repeat or maybe just keep the engine running forever ... |

I heard about this but did not think about doing it yet, Makes sense with certain turbos, especially after-market add-ons with sketchy design. But, definitely, warming up the engine, even in the summer. It's something I do every time when the engine is bone cold. There may be 2-3 days a year that I miss doing it when I am in the hurry. I just wait until the idle drops below about 800 rpm and then put in gear and go.. Not pushing the engine until temp goes above 165-180F.

I don’t worry about turning the engine off right away unless I have been beating on the car and had to stop the car right away. These cars have a cooling system that will continue to run after the engine is off to circulate coolant through the turbos. It also has an engine fan that will run after the engine is off.

Yep, it's a gamble. In one engine it may work great, in another...disaster The take-away is:
- they modify the original chemistry formulated for a specific application - do not use them without regular oil analysis (I am too lazy and stingy to pay for these, so I do not use any oil additives - Top Tier fuel and BMW specs oil is all you need and regular maintenance intervals
