It's because of Elon that my future grandkids won't need to work if they choose not to, so I say he's a swell fella.

I'm going to leave it alone with this because I think we've both expressed our viewpoints as well as possible, and we can just agree that we significantly disagree. Which is fine.

However, I will say that the above is a pretty enormous caveat, kind of like saying that except for all the murders Charlie Manson was a pretty chill guy. I mean, maybe he was, but does it matter? I'll give you that it's subjective, but then again most things are. So it goes.

So you basically can't really list everything evil done by Elon, but you don't like him because of (select): politics / tweets / money / success / weirdness ... etc

I thought I had made it clear enough that the horrible things he's doing are, in my opinion, politically based. Sorry for not spelling it out.

I couldn't give a shit how weird he is, how successful he is, how much money he has, what idiotic tweets he makes, etc. But I do care about the horrid things he does. So guilty as charged, I guess?

I mean, I guess I could list them out if you can't figure it out, but as you said, this isn't really the place for political discussion so I'm inclined not to. At any rate, there doesn't seem to be anything further to discuss that would be constructive, so I think this particular conversation is at an end. You clearly think Musk is a great guy*, I clearly don't. C'est la vie.

*Or good, or okay, or whatever. I'm sincerely not trying to put words in your mouth. At any rate, it appears that you have a more positive view of him than I do.

Fair enough.

However, Manson killed innocent people... I think 99.9% of people would agree that is objectively evil. I'm not aware of Musk killing anyone. So it's not the same at all.

It was a hyperbolic statement intended to make a point, not a literal comparison. I feel like it was pretty obvious that I wasn't literally comparing Musk to someone who ordered the murder of a pregnant woman.

I was in Vegas in Jan and they were all over the place. You could 3-4 at all times on the strip, so they had to have had a bunch out there. There were free for the weekend, so most were pretty full that I could see.

If I were heading somewhere - I would have tried one for sure. A car with no *shutters* PEOPLE in it? Yes please?

I was in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago and the Waymo one's were all over the place as well. I only needed to Uber once, to the airport on my way out, and honestly didn't even think of Waymo. But had I, I might have tried it out.

We were in San Francisco last summer for a few days and used the Waymo cabs quote a bit. They were all over downtown and were quick to get to us.
