Throttle response
I have a 2010 3.0 Z4 6 speed which I autox for fun. When I autox I leave it in sport mode to retain the quasi limited slip function of the DSC system. I run nost courses in 2nd gear. My understanding is that sport mode gives you a more responsive throttle. Much to my surprise yesterday I noticed a lag in throttle response when rapidly flooring the throttle. I know there are products to speed up throttle response. Will they make throttle respond faster in sport mode? Has anyone installed one if these devices and if so did they work?

I am quite sure that even in sport mode, the DSC is trying to slow you down because it is feeling to much wheel spin or steering angle or whatever. It can get frustrating. But if you turn it all off be careful.
There should be plenty of throttle response in second gear, in fact some drivers like a less instant pedal feel in order to modulate throttle more precisely during the turn. I tried on a couple of runs to leave DSC on and it definitely intervened in the throttle. Disabling it entirely will put more of the car control responsibilities on your shoulders of course but you won't get any of that throttle hesitation or other leashes on you.
As far as those throttle devices go they are all about the illusion of more power and response under part throttle and don't actually do anything to increase the speed at which the throttle opens. They essentially make the last 25% or so of throttle travel wasted and cram a more aggressive opening curve into the first parts of the pedal movement. |

Why aren't you putting the car into sport+? Another thing to try is hold down the DSC button. If you already haven't done this. When holding it you will hear a chime from your car meaning it is fully off. I don't know if just pressing it once only turns off partial control. Because why else would they put the chime there when holding if it didn't do more. But there isn't really any documentation on this that I saw.

I take it you have a turbo engine?
turbos respond much better if you roll onto the throttle VS just matting the pedal right away. this is what you are looking for.. give it a shot. it'll put you into the seat. |

Right on. If autox this car I would not mash the throttle out of every turn. Especially make sure not to hit the kick down point if you do.

From his description I really think the OP is experiencing DSC induced throttle reduction. BTW he has a 3.0 which is NA and a 6 speed manual.

Now that you mention it. I think that could be an issue. Have you changed the ride hight of your car or tires recently. These are things that can mess with the DSC. Mostly the ride hight.

I kept stock ride height and my tire diameters are same as stock. I already thought of that.
