Spec me some 17" wheels please
The logical step towards a composed ride around these parts is less alloy, more (non runflat) rubber. If I end up choosing a 35is, those 19s will have to go, regardless of how cool they look. They won't look cool crashing over potholes.
I'm after a BMW wheel design, preferably in satin/matt black, as I'm interested in a yellow car. Black wheels negate the small size of 17s somewhat, but if necessary any of BMW's wheels which will fit can be powdercoated without undue stress. A five spoke design or a multispoke design, something clean and unfussy, preferably as lightweight as possible. Similar to these; http://www.ebay.it/itm/151270100618?...84.m1423.l2649 They'd be perfect except for the narrow width. How wide can I go on the E89 before trouble? Not only for looks, but to skim over narrower potholes. I'd like 245/45 17 fronts and 275/40 17 rears if that's doable. Thanks for any light you can shed. |

I have both 18 and 19 and drive on NYC roads. That being said I wouldn't recommend anything less than 18. You really don't have to worry so much. I'd say even with 19 its not so bad as long ad you're a cautious driver. A good wheel from reputable manufacturer and proper sized rubber you'll be fine. |

Interesting. Our roads can easily give yours a run for their money when it comes to poor surfacing
Why are 17s not recommended? Do they lose something in terms of handling? |

17's may have break clearance issues. Also keep in mind that the overall height needs to be same as oem, so that would be mean 17's would need a much larger sidewall. Larger sidewall would negatively affect handling. And visually, imo, the balance would be off.
18's and a great compromise, but I would suggest a wider than factory set. |
