I think the OP mentioned it was a rolling start. I'm gonna stick to my story and say that it was the Vette's race to lose. The Z06's V8 torque is nothing to scoff at. I mean, I love my 35is, but let's get real...

Meaning, the 35i is not as far from the C6/Z06 as the BMW HP and TQ numbers would indicate. As well, the DCT and Launch Control (if the 2 cars raced in a start from zero mph) contribute to minimizing the difference. I was speaking in general terms, not necessarily to the OP's exact scenario. |

I am not a US car experts, but did some search, "thank you Google"
The C5 MY2000-2002 has a 5.7L V8 engine. The engine is listed for 345 Hp, it comes in 4 speed automatic or 6 speed manual. The high light is the engine torque, it's low end torque is at 300 lb/ft. (1100 rpm) raising to 340 lb/ft (2500 rpm) and finally peaking at 375 lb/ft (>4400 rpm) The Z4 35i have an hp of 306 (BMW claim) and 300 lb/ft at 1200-5500 rpm Though the TC of our Z4 is by far superior to the C5 ( being a MY 2000 VS a 2009++) Still I cannot see how a stock Z4 can take on a C5 if that driver was not mediocre. IMHO.... |

35i vs C5 is going to be a very close race 0-60 and 1/4 mi. If the C5 driver mis-shifts a 6 speed, they will lose to the driver with DCT. |
