Problem with programming Door opener
OK - I have a new 2011 Z4 30 with the premium package. I have two garage doors. One is the old style that I can program successfully using a remote control. The other is a newer model that must have the rolling codes. I am unable to program the newer unit.
I push the learn button on the opener and with my 2006 Honda Minivan, I can program the door opener no problem. I do the same with the 2011 Z4 and nothing happens. So the Z4 works with the old door opener, my Honda works with the newer unit and the Z4 will not do anything with the same newer unit. When I try to program the newer unit with the Z4, I hold the button on the mirror for 2 seconds after hitting the learn button on the door opener, I release the button on the mirror and repeat (several times). I also hold the button continously and still nothing happens. Any suggestions? Has anyone else run into this? Do I have a software problem in the home link system? |

With the rolling code garage door openers there's a few more steps;

Thatś possible but highly unlikely. Our Homelink works on a rolling code Sears, rolling code Chamberlain and a fairly new rolling code Lift Master of all different vintages. All of them work flawlessly. Do you have new batteries in the remote? What brand/vintage is the one that wont work?

I had this problem when I had a loaner 3-er for a couple of weeks, then somehow it sorted itself out.
When we later got a new X3, the same thing happened. Again when I got the new Z4. This is one of those "try, try again" problems as far as I can tell.

Problem solved - I called the Home Link support people.
1. Clear the memory 2. Hold remote behind the mirror almost touching it and hold in the remote and the button you want to program until the light flashing changes 3. Hit learn button on the unit 4. Hit the botton you want to prgram. done |

Yeah... I just did mine last night..
The part that isn't exactly clear from the owner's manual.. is that you have to program it exactly like a non-rolling code opener, first.. THEN, hit the learn button the unit, and you have 30 seconds to press the homelink button three times... Mine worked like a charm... |
