Californias 'anti-suction cup law' ?

Since I'm about to embark on a 12 to 15 state joy ride in our Zed I thought I had better check the laws in those states as it pertains to radar detectors. I have an Escort 9500ix which is suctioned to the windshield of course. I felt pretty good that none of the states I'll be driving in seems to outright ban radar detectors. But then I ran across the 'anti-suction cup' law in Cali... umm wtf? Anybody with any experience with that on the board? Is the CHP eager to pull an out of stater over for crap like this?

If I recall correctly, that law which banned attaching things to your windshield that impede vision was repealed. Don't have a statute, just remember reading it somewhere about a year ago. Sorry I can't be more help.

As far as the CHP pulling you over, I wouldn't worry about it too much. We have a cell phone law and it seems that half the drivers on the road still use a cell phone while they drive. Even the governor's wife got some negative press because she was observed twice driving while on the phone. At the time I couldn't understand why the cheap ba**tard couldn't break down and buy her an SUV with bluetooth. Now it makes because he couldn't keep his mind off the ugly maid.

Regardless, I would mount the suction cup high up and no one will see it. There are a few states that ban radar.

I was incorrect in your case, but at the time I was looking for a GPS mount. They used to be banned completely. Sorry for the misinformation.

I used to have my radar detector fixed to the top of the dash with velcro. Easy to mount and remove and less visible to the cops.
