Front license plate bracket

Live in Va and must run the dreaded front license plate bracket. Just mounted the "gomingo" no hole bracket. It's offset, it works, but it's kinda ugly. It's probably the look of off center and sticking out on one side.

Anyone have a photo of the OEM bracket that BMW dealer puts on? I might have to go ahead and drill to center for a better look.

Looked at the Skene web site too but no current photo's of their bracket mounted on an E89.

Thanks

I've never used these, so I don't know if they're good, however if you take a look the plugs, they don't look anything special, you could try going to home depot and finding plastic fasteners and paint them yourself.

Do you (or anyone) have a pic with the gominigo one on an E89 Z4?

I'm trying to decide what to do wrt front plates.

Hey DW,

Don't even bother with the front plate, the cops don't seem to care in these parts. I've been driving my MB for 6 years here without one and I have no plans of messing up the front of the new car with one either. Even when I got a speeding ticket down in the Portland area they didn't care..., it's just not a part of their priorities as long as the rear is properly displayed.

In my area (Santa Barbara, CA) you may not get pulled over for the front plate missing but the parking enforcement people will ticket for it so if you spend much time parking on time-enforced streets, it's best to have it. Can't say if that's universal, but worth considering.

It would be alot better if the car were designed to better accomodate the us plates (or if US plates changed to match elsewhere). As it was I had to tell the dealer to mount the bracket lower than it it was designed to go so that the plate didn't come up over the bottom of the kidney grilles.

Take a look at this:
http://www.bimmerpost.com/2010/05/03/look-ma-no-holes/

I would get a front license plate installed no matter what. Just in case.

Cool. (I think I've found it, all those kidney grills start to look alike light grey/silver?)

What measurements did you send them?

Yea, good point. I've also started noticing, and there are _tons_ of 911's around w/o front plates.

I'll probably buy something from gominigo just to be able to quickly mount it if needed.

When living in IL, I carried my front plate under my seat, then popped it on top of the dash whenever I was being pulled over, always worked for me.

i refuse to drill the front bumpers of our BMWs but it is the law in TX (front plate required); i am sure that eventually i will get a ticket for this but so far so good, knock on wood

DW, I orderd the one marked '2009+' and it definitely will fit the MY10 & MY11 (mine's a 2011). Also ordered the offset bracket too.

Yes, it's the light gray / silver. Hope that helps!

Front bracket, we don't need not stink'n brackets.

How about 3M double stick tape. It is what BMW used to attached my front plate for Euro delivery. Sticking just fine for over 8 months now. If and when it gets loose I can reapply fresh tape. Just an alternative to funky mounts, or drilling holes.

When I did my PCD pickup the guy who showed me my car recommended 3M double sided stick tape as well.
