today's Adventure out in the Bavarian Alps...
Some weekends things just fall into place. It all started out with just a small drive - out in the Bavarian countryside with a buddies of mine: ChrisM135i Christian also has a blog on FB(Driving Obsession). Chris allowed me to use some of his pics along with the other guys on our driving tour. And also special thanks to markymark666 for his excellent video skills and to Florian... xTReeM
And as these things go... one friend tells a friend and before you know it we have a small group of BMW car freaks - who want to drive thru the Bavarian countryside. I want to thank Christian, Florian, Markus and new comer Andreas for coming out. I know we all had an awesome time. We all met at a friends house near the Munich Airport. We then headed South, into the foothills of the Bavarian Alps. We also drove around two beautiful lakes(Walchensee & Kochelsee) via a private toll(maut strasse) road to get to the Walchensee. We all had an AWESOME time!! Enjoy "our" photos and video. Markus really did a great job(as always) with the video. Our driving tour... B13 Lenggries-->Jachenau--> Walchensee-->Kochelsee. This is pretty much how we drove... https://www.google.de/maps/dir/Munic...1744!3e0?hl=en I've often wondered if BMW got inspired by the Flughafen's / / / M sign... but my Munich friends tell me this sign came way after BMW M became a entity. a familiar sight to your ED'ers... that moment just "before"... almost in Jachenau... The little "hut" in the right, where you pay your 4 euros to take the private Mautstrasse to the Walchensee... Waldschänke Niedernach... a small Cafe near the lake... We parked at this parking spot on the right of the map. Afterwards were took the Southern route around the lake. You can drive around the entire lake if you wish. This is the ticket/receipt you get for driving the Jachenau Mautstrasse. There are a few access points around the lake. This is an old ticket. The Walchensee(lake) its a narrow road... but doable when cars come from the other direction. many years ago I stayed at this wonderful little hotel: Gasthaus Isartal. I thought it was cool to drive past and see that the place hasn't changed in over seventeen years! Gotta love Germany. This is quite close to Mittenwald(also a very nice place to stop and the better well known city of Garmisch. Krün ->Nittenwald->Garmisch-Partenkirchen Here at this spot at the Kochelsee, was the very first fatal car accident recorded in Germany. Way back in 1896!!! Kochelsee. The next little lake North of Walchensee checkout this G-Wagon RV!! strawberry sales - all closed up for the day. The End.

Grauer Bär & Silberpfeil race cars...
Thanks guys, glad to hear all the positive comments.
One place I forgot to mention is the Grauer Bär (or grey bear)... its a nice old school hotel on the shores of the Kochelsee(lake). I have had dinner here a few times. But what I found really interesting was near the restaurants bathroom(s) they had all these vintage hill climb photos from the 30's of Hans Stuck Sr. and all the other famous racers from that Silberpfeil years. I was fascinated by those old fotos. And what was even cooler was that those cars had raced around the lake in those years before WWII. I'm a big fan of the Silberpfeil cars. Hotel Grauer Bär Mittenwalder Str. 82-86, 82431 Kochel am See
