A Sunday Drive
Had a little drive round the Glasgow area on the back roads with my brother (TT-S) and a friend (997 C4S) and of course my 23i...
We all swapped cars, I drove the 911 (first drive in a 911), bro drove the Zed and friend drove the TT-S. The 911 was quite amazing, steering was so crisp and direct compared with the Zed but it was let down with its Tiptronic box. The TT-S with its S-Tronic doppelkuplungs twin clutch gearbox and Quattro is now know as the "sling shot"!! Honestly, it's quite incredible how quick this pocket rocket comes out of a corner! I was left for dead when I was trying to catch up later in the Zed.. Maybe the 35i would have a better chance but the traction of Quattro was there to be seen. The C4S faired better... Once it built up a head of steam after the initial Tiptronic lag it was right in the tail of the TT-S... But, once I had the roof down in the Zed, my smile came back I also think the colour of the Zed is the best and the cabin in both the Zed and TT-S are superior to that of the 997. Some pics from the day... |
