Electrical chaos when sat in traffic
Hello all
Ive just had my alternator replaced, about 2 months ago. Since having this done my car has, only twice, started to throw up all sorts of warning lights when sat in staionary traffic for over 30 minutes. - abs warning light comes on - dtc malfunction error light comes on - electric windows stop working - air bag warning light flashing - speedo and mpg guages stopped functioning Once I'd got out of traffic the speedo started again, windows started working and most of the faults disappeared. I have just checked the voltage of the battery with the engine off this read 12.7 with the engine on, this went up to 14.3 engine load and electricals turned on it mor or less stays the same so, with my limited knowledge of car electricals that seems to be working ok right? could it be something else? any advice is greatly appreciated and advice on any testing scenarios. The alternator is reconditioned, and comes with a 12 month warranty so have a little bit fall back. |
