Leather Seat Bolster Showing Wear
I am sure somebody posted on this before but I can't the post.
The leather bolster on the drivers seat closest to the door is showing serious signs of wear. I am putting this down to this being the side that gets rubbed as I get in and out of the car but the car is not yet 3 years old and the wear is quite bad to the point where it is almost white in places (black leather) So has anybody else come across this and if so, what was the solution? Should I be looking towards the warranty (although I think trim is specifically excluded beyond the first 12 months) or is there an easy fix? Thanks |

When you get in car, your body rubs against bolster. It's natural wear and tear. Boot polish works for me to blacken the wear. If you want it to stop, get in car more carefully , or be prepared to spend a hundred or two to get it re leathered every few years. The rest of the leather seems to hold up fairly well.
Edit- the wear depend on how many times you get in and out of car, as opposed to how old it is, as well as how heavy you are |

My bolsters aren't exactly showing signs of wear as you describe; however, I've noticed that certain of my jeans -- mainly every style I have of True Religions, and I wear TR jeans quite often -- scrape the seat bolster quite a bit. All my TR jeans have button flaps on the seat pockets, so that's what's scraping. So when I'm wearing those jeans (or anything that has buttons, studs, etc. on the back pockets or on the back of a shirt/jacket), I take care not to scrape the seats when I get in and out.

I had my driver seat side bolster leather replaced under warranty after similar wear described in the OP. Turns out there was a split in the foam too so this was replaced as well. Seat looks and feels great now. Hopefully it will last...

I just bought some stuff called Buffalo from and eBay seller.
I'll try it out later this week and maybe do a few pics if its a success. Cats have mullered my leather sofa too, so this is a test run on the black wear patches in the car. They say even these pet scratches can be hidden/repaired. Big claims! |

I had the drivers side bolster replaced under warranty on the previous car. When the dealer was looking round the car to value it for part-ex he noticed the wear (I just put it down to wear n tear of getting ito the car tbh) & immediately said book it in for a repair before the warranty expires.
They only replaced the bolster not the leather. |
