335d M-Sport Coupé as you can see with the following toys:

Armrest. front with sliding adjustment
Bluetooth phone prep + telematics
BMW Assist
BMW Assist online portal
Elec Fold Exterior Mirrors
Fine Brushed Aluminium interior trim
Leather interior
M light-alloy wheels double spoke 225 M.
Navigation-system Professional
SA3 Pricing Rule for 620 Voice Control
Seat heating. front
Sun protection glass
USB interface
Voice Control

I want the transaction to go as smoothly as possible, I have called my bank and told them I will be making a large purchase etc but they said there was nothing they could do and when the time comes I might have to call them up should the transaction fail. Does anyone have any advice regarding this? Apparently the system that "flags" unusual activity is automated and doesn't "read" notes against the account.

Talking

Congratulations, I'm sure you good a deal too

Regarding the transaction, why not bank transfer on the day instead?

You could otherwise ring the bank on the day and give them a time frame when you expect to put the transaction through on your card. This will mean it should go through without needing further authorization.

Hope this helps.

Nice motor.. I got mine a month ago, still smiling.

The payment was a nightmare though, i notified my bank but on the day it didn't clear or the following day. After a call from the fraud dept i finally arranged a window for the payment to be made, then i couldn't get in touch with the salesman, the window closed but the payment still went through.

You'll love it.

Sadly not much of a deal, the price was already pretty good though as you know (in comparison to other comparable spec/age/mileage cars).

Will this work on a Saturday? Failing that I could do it tomorrow but for a CHAPS transfer I think I will have to pay the bank (£20, so small beans I guess).

The normal process for debit card (or credit card payments if your nuts!) is when they put through the transaction, they will get a message saying to call their payment clearing centre with a transaction number. They will then pass the phone over to you and you have to confirm some details (however NEVER your PIN). Normally this is name 2 direct debits and who your salary is paid in by etc.

They then authorise the payment and the car is yours!

It's a 58 plate January 09 car, shade under 6000miles. As for the time it's taken, just other "life" stuff getting in the way!!

Good choice. Love the CR leather on a dark car.

Looks nice matey

I had exactly the same conversation with the bank this morning. Should be buying a car tomorrow and want to draw £14k on a debit card. Don't want it to get refused so rang the bank today to clear it in advance. Said they can't do this as say I lost the card today and I had given the bank permission to let unusually large transactions through, they would not be liable so have stopped doing this.

They simply said that there is 50-50 chance of it failing and if it does to call the number and they will allow it through. They said it would only take about 5 mins for the transaction to become authorised if it does get refused.

Hope you enjoy your motor and have a smooth purchase

Great looking car, cant you just arrange to get a bankers draft drawn up or do a chaps payment (instant) tomorrow in time for the purchase on Saturday

Cheers, I am hoping that all it takes is a phone call.

Hrm, I might well take this option. If I do the CHAPS transfer tomorrow then on Saturday all I have to worry about is going to collect the motor. This might be the smoothest way of doing all this (at the cost of £20 for the CHAPS fee).

Hrm...will call the dealer tomorrow and see what he says about doing it like this.

When I bought my car last year I told the bank exactly how much I would be paying and to whom and they said 'no problem' by putting a not on the file to expect the transaction. £18k went through no prob. I mean if they have the amount and payee confirmed by you it's no use to a thief unless they know your pin and buy a car with the same amount from the same dealer!!! HSBC were just fine about it, no problem!

Beautiful car by the way!

Actually, as long as you paid the balance immediately you most certainly would NOT be nuts paying by credit card as then you would be protected by the consumer credit act if the car turned out to be a wrong 'un.

Practically it's not likely as the dealer will almost certainly not want to to pay the 2.5% merchant's fee and your credit card might not have £20k of credit on it.

Anyway, nice car, good luck and do a CHAPS transfer today. Then you're all sorted.

I did a £25k transaction when I collected mine, the dealer do a voice referal with your bank, takes 20 mins

Very nice indeed! I know the feeling just before you get a new motor

When I bought mine the transaction went straight through, so hopefully you won't have any problems.
