Removing arch protector

Has anyone removed the plastic arch protectors (that look awful) and does it cause any issues if you do? Pics and stories appreciated.

3 nuts per side, and they pull right out. They fit very snug on the quarter panel edge, so I doubt there would be any marring from rubbing against the paint.

I think I read on one of the posts talking about this arch guard on the M2 CS saying there are PPFs underneath to protect the lip.
Is this not the case with the Euro spec G80?

Sorry, what's an "Arch protector"? (I don't have my car yet, hopefully goes into production this month)
