2014 F30 335i Mod Recommendations ?

Hey everyone,

I recently traded in my RWD 2012 328i Sport line for a fully loaded 2014 335i xDrive; with both M packages!

It's a blast driving and I only got to enjoy it for 2 days before I had to garage it and head off to the mountains for work. On my free time, I'm lurking the forums to see what other people are doing and here are my current impressions:

Since my car is CPO'd and under warranty until next June, I've been hesitant to pull any big mods that they would void my warranty far, such as a flash .

I would have pulled the trigger for the bootmod3 flash for the gunshots but as of right now, I'm sure it would void my warranty, unless someone would like to prove me otherwise, so please do

My mod list during my warranty period:
- ER chargepipe
- AWE exhaust w/ midpipe
- KW suspension
- Air intake
- Rims

Mod list out of warranty period l:
- Catless downpipe
- bootmod3 flash

Is there anything else I should put on the bucket list? ?

Intercooler is all you really need with the downpipe. My IAT's are 140F with the OEM cooler.

Do you think that the inter cooler will void my warranty? I'm really thinking about getting a catless downpipe now and screwing the warranty if anything does end up happening..

It's better if you talk to your dealer. Some are cool about it. Or you could just use dinan. I have Dinan intake and it sounds pretty good

The best solution would to not buy a CPO warranty.

Since you have less than a year of CPO, i say prep the car NOW for the Big Upgrade Of Power once June passes. Thus upgrade to ER CP and add an LSD. Too many seem to not do the LSD, it is worth it imho. Intake is your call, yet the Dinan IC is massive and safe for your CPO. Basically, get bits that work great with the BM3, with an eye towards perhaps getting a bigger turbo / max performance. Lightweight rims, a suspension you prefer, and sticky tires are always fun of course.

I've been rocking a CTS Turbo fmic for the last 4-5 dealer visits with no issues or anything mentioned. I am not tuned either and it's ran flawlessly, but that changes as of today because I sent my DME off to be flashed with bm3 !

Thanks for the response! I was thinking about that, and I was contemplating wether or not I should buy parts that typically don't void my warranty such as an exhaust, FMIC, CP.. etc etc.. how does that sound ? And what kind of big performance boosters would you recommend ?

Oh the warranty came with the car as it was within 4 years. It only has 44K KM on it and the limit was 80,000.

I didn't opt to purchase the extended warranty though!

Makes sense to me.

Well, hmmm... it all boils down to how fast you want to afford to go combined with the expected lifespan / maintenance due to a certain level of boosted engine performance, etc. Of course everyone's goal to their own personal 'ultimate' BMW may be different.

Follow your dream.

Well for next time be aware than you should be able to negotiate the CPO part.

KBB even tracks price data between the two options. The dealer would love to make you think it's required, but it's really just extra cash in the bank for them.

2014 335i x drive with 24,000 miles msport/tech pkg.

CPO from a dealer -> 34978
Used from dealer -> 33278

Thanks again everyone for your replies! I've come down to the following engine mods:

AWE Exhaust including the mid pipe
Evolution raceworks chargepipe
FMIC (Not sure which brand)

Does anyone have any brands they recommend?

Thanks!

Why not a downpipe?

The midpipe deletes your resonator correct? I would keep that first before deciding you need more exhaust sound. The resonator tunes your exhaust note to sound exotic with a minimal change in overall sound volume.
I was thinking of getting the mid pipe first actually so you've just reinforced my decision to do so, thanks again for that.

As for downpipe, I was seriously considering about getting a catless and pairing that with the bootmod3 flash but due to the warranty and such, it's put it at a halt.

Unless a sports catted one would do the trick, opinions ?
