BMW OEM Headlight Specs

Anyone have the spec for BMW OEM Xenon HID in Lumens or fL? Also Color Temp in Kelvin?

Same question for BMW OEM LED Specs?

Would even throw in Halogens Specs for comparison.

Thx

Kelvin temp is probably around 4,300, we just won't go there for the halogens, just says it's "42". That's about all I can help with.

Yes, sweet spot for Xenon appears to be around 4200K-4300K. Above and below appears to drop Lumens.

But that circles back to how many Lumens does each of the 3 output for the definitive difference.

The Philips 85122WX is a typical OEM HID, 6000k, 2900 lumens. LED is probably similar.

As your post shows, moving off ~4250K Color reduces Lumen output around 10%-15%

Guess the real question is what Company does BMW use for OEM Xenons?

Ditto LEDs and Halogens.

LEDs are very similar in colour temp to xenons (~4300). Maybe slightly hotter.

The LEDs in the F3X aren't super bright, maybe even a bit dimmer than xenon, but they have a perfect cut-off and are very consistent so overall I'd say they're better.

Sorry for no hard facts but maybe opinions will help you out

The looks alone of the LED headlights make it better.

Based on my experience with LED (Non Adaptive) is that they are whiter than the HID, but not necessarily brighter and the cut off is not very well defined as the HID with the HID with the ellipsoid. Also they need to be aimed higher and once that happens then they become better.

There is a thread where many led owners are disappointed with their headlights are not as good as their HID in Bimmers they also own.

And I can see why! From the factory they are aimed too low and they do not project as far! Cut off is crappy and overall not as good as HID, but that is my opnion...

Standard HIDs are 4300K and both of my cars had standard Philips D1S bulbs.

The thread I made here might help: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1230507

Wasn't making a claim. I was talking cosmetics. Also, my friend's 428 has LED headlights, and its much clearer and more crisp than Xenons.
