disable left exhaust valve f30 335
i know there have been posts and have read about this before. but i just need some clarifications.
Can i follow this guide? http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=761453 or is there an easier other way of disabling it(i mean to have both pipes open at all times)? the car in question is a 2012 335. kinda annyoing that one pipe is always clean and one dirty as a m***af...... thanks //Micke |

Yep you can follow that one.. always best to secure the valve with some wire I guess it could have some leeway otherwise! You can also unplug the connector (and waterproof it) and take off the black actuator box for completeness but you don't have to. It's a pretty easy fix maybe 5-10 minutes on your back tops!

on my car. the valve is closed at first. but after like 15-20 sec it opens the left. if unplugging the connector. when is it best to do so? after it has opened it? if i disconnect while the car is not on, wont it be closed?

Golf tee mod or jb4 are the two best ways to solve your problem. The issue with the golf tee mod is the actuator still opens and closes and some have said it has caused eventual failure because it opens past the point it would if the valve was connected and eventually wears out the gears. I guess an easy fix would be to just pull the plug on the actuator

You can pull the plug on the actuator when the car is off. The valve is open when the actuator is de-energized.
The other solution is to drive in Sport mode as both exhaust are open in that mode. |

Jb4 is not an option as i havet planned to leave it to a shop that mods the original box. Will try and just unplug The connector.

I did that, and didn't like the drone, which was especially bad in the rear seat area. That said, I have the MPE, which has a deeper tone than the stock exhaust. I ended up plugging the connector back in, as the valve opens under acceleration in Comfort and stays open in Sport.

Don't waste your time with that guide.
Drive it in sport or if you're turning on your car, wait 1 minute until the valve opens up and rev it above 3k and then turn off the car. The valve will be opened. Unplug the actuator and tuck it to the side. Cold starts will be slightly louder. However, I agree with roundel335 about the drone. I also have the MPE and the drone gets annoying when cruising. So, I just ended up plugging it back in as well. Try it out for yourself. |

what would be the best way/procedure to protect the connectors? i mean not leaving them out in the open. but sealing them into something may increase corrosion?
