problems foreseen - changing tires on same wheel set
I bought a 320d A GT xdrive in March 2015.
The car came with the stock summer tires 225/50 R18. I now need to buy the winter tires (mandatory and required in Luxembourg). However, I am confused if I really need to spend a bomb (€ 2400 + fitting) to buy the winter tires WITH the wheel set. If I buy just the winter tires I know I need to pay a little more for the tires to be mounted and dismounted on the wheels each time. I also understand that it’s not too good for the tires to go through this mounting/dismounting often (but its only gonna 3-4 times/seasons in their lifetime!) Are there any other issues involved? Does it lead to the damage of the TPM sensor etc. ? Any other things that I need to worry about? |

I wouldn't do that, especially not with the OEM run-flat tires.
If you are on a budget buy aftermarket wheels and winter tires, then you are also free to change dimension (find cheaper options). You will save money and time in the long run when you dont have to swap tires on the same wheels at least two times a year. |

you can but I wouldn't. I'd only do it if money is especially tight. Shop for a cheap set of wheels or look for some used takeoffs being sold.

Run-flat tires have stiffer sidewalls and are harder to fit on the wheels, therefore I mentioned that it might be more critical with run-flat tires. I still think that you can save money in the long run with a extra set of cheaper aftermarket wheels. |

Im into the same situation into Germany, winter tires are mandatory but I wont spend much money for an extra set of tires.
Take a look ebays, you'll find there very good slightly used complete tires with RDCi on origin BMW rims with profile depths up to 7mm. Average cost of a set with shipping €1400,- I had tried to configure rims and tires and the TPM sensors and stay below 1200,-...was impossible. So I bought a set there and be ready for the cold season.

Highly recommended to just get a cheaper set of wheels and winter tires for your winter set up. As far as your TPMS goes, if you get another set of wheels you would either have to buy a spare set for those new wheels or else you will still have to dismount your tires anyways just to remove it. It wont get damaged if they dismount the tire correctly, but that being said your tire will still need to be removed every time if you want to swap TPMS to your summer wheels. So this is your call unless you can deal with the TPMS light.

Thats correct, pro tire remover just bend the wheel inwards off the rim to reach the TPMS at its position. Once out, plug, pray and play on the other set of wheels.
Recommendation to do so is nevertheless not more often than 5 or 6 times before the run flat thing starts to suffer seriously.

Dont do it! I tried doing this just once in order to return my old e90 on lease with the 189s I has been using as snow wheels instead of the 193s, which i wanted to keep to use as my snow wheels in the future.
The result? The bead on 3 out of the 4 relatively new snow tires was completely torn making them worthless. RFT tires are a lot less elastic and a shops hate dealing with them and tend to just yank. At least that's my experience.

Consider leebmann24.de, they sell complete oem wheel sets within your price range - but as I've seen your desired site Im pretty sure that you'll choose your rims off the oem style, no?

Oh thanks for this website ! It's excellent ! I don't mind simpler looking alloys as long as they good quality and come with the std.RDC Indicator so ready to fit .
