Z4 convoy spotted by the folks at Zroadster.com

Here is the latest in photos of the Z4 which is now only 1-2 months away from full reveal.

I am definitly in big time anticipation of this car, it should be pretty damn sick. Atleast I hope BMW does right by us and gives us a serious performance car ......

Impressive! Looks like the rear window in the retractable hardtop will actually fold (as a separate piece). Can't wait to see it in action.

Me too! I'm actually in favour of the folding hard top, and as someone else has said, it looks like the rear window might fold separately (like the Merc SLK I guess). I think with the 3.0i twin turbo engine it will be a serious performer, and I would definitely anticipate choosing the new iDrive system as an option.

We need more info and pics without any camouflage!

I'm counting down the days here luckily its set to show its face at the LA autoshow which means it will be doing more of a strip tease before then and the full on press photos will be out a little while before the LA show..... its such a hard wait but knowing its such a little time away is what keeps me sane Every single thing you mentioned is whats making me salivate for this car

It'll be interesting to see the size specs of this car, when I first saw the original spy shots I thought this thing really was a Z6 and had grown a whole lot, but seeing it next to the Z4 in these shots makes me believe its only grown very little (the old Z4 is always in the back so I'm building a certain level of perspective magnification into the photos in my mind).

The fact that it has a retractable hardtop pretty much confirms that it will be heavier then the old Z4 but in terms of physical dimensions i'm not so sure its going to be much different. I think the styling of the car lends itself to the car looking bigger then it is. It is certainly a wider car, tho.

Damn you BMW release some more info on this car please I'm getting way too antsy now!

It looks a lot bigger then the E85/E86 Z4. Boo! They definitely kept the traditional long snout.

It won't be longer than E85 a lot, but will be wider and will look more muscular...

I think it appears to be a fixed screen. I never particularly liked the folding screen that the 1 series, Z4 and X3 have. It also looks like an 8" inch screen... is that not the same size as the screen in the 3 series?

The only place the car will appear to be "longer" will be behind the drivers door and at the luggage compartment area (to store the folding metal roof).

I really am looking forward to seeing it.

Note that 3rd picture down shows rear window at full size, without the masking of other spy shots over the months. The mailbox-sized masking would have meant bad visibility to starboard quarter with top up - good to see full use of full backlight.

In the article I posted about a week regarding these cars, I also mentioned that the test mules above were sporting the twin-turbo 3.0 liter engine and the 7 DKG transmission. Now that's something that got me excited.

The Z4 will go on sale shortly after the Detroit Auto Show, but it will be showcased at L.A show in November. Most likely the pricing won't be revealed until January.

A friend has driven the DCT and loves it (local BMW sales guy - not sure what vehicle).

With nearly 20K miles in the N54 in my 335i E93, can say it is the most responsive mill I've had. Will note that this is with Dinan Stage II - same powertrain in an E89 several hundred lbs lighter will be awesome.

Had opportunity to drive several laps in current-model Z4 back-to-back at same time as laps in M6 and B7 Alpina (Spartanburg in 2-day driver school), this after 2 days in 535is and 550is and really wringing them out. I was astonished how fine the 3.0si Z4 played in this auspicious field - was the most fun of them all and really looking forward to the E89.
