Master cylinder compatibility
I am looking at purchasing the BMW 34112450468 M performance kit which includes the following for my 2010 E89 3.0. I have 18" wheels already. My question; Is the caliper set compatible with the stock master cylinder 25mm front bore and 22mm rear bore. The stock E89 pedal travel is already too long and I don't want to make it worse. Has anyone changed MC's and if so which one did you use?
370x30 mm discs[/I] with 4-piston-calipers (for min. 18" wheels): 4-piston-calipers yellow: 34106855475 + ...6 4-piston-calipers red: 34106855477 + ...8 4-piston-calipers orange: 34106855479 + ...80 discs 370x30 mm (perforated): 34106797603 dust cover: 34116792237 + ...8 brake pads: 34116859066 The 370 mm BMW Performance brakes are the better solution for upgrading the Z4 than the 340 mm and the only possibility for Europe to get a legal p&p solution for the 35i/35is. |

Thats a nice setup, Porsche Cayenne brakes on E89. Anyway, i have the opportunity to get m4 Front Brake Kit 34116799469 with 380mm Front Brake Discs in almost new condition. Have we confirmed the fitment on these? All I see is the 370mm disc. Thanks

I just ran a track day event with the M2 Sport brakes and Cool Carbon brake pads. The car now stops like my old race car, awesome braking, stability and a firm pedal through 3 sessions. I found myself over braking as the brakes with the Cool Carbon pads really have initial bite. I'm sold. I'm glad I spent the money. These are as good a street brake set up you
are going to get. |

Only problem with 18"wheels I found was weights on Brembo brake pads interfered with wheel balance weights which were installed before new brakes. I had to grind down brake pad weights to clear.

" The 6 piston BBK shown here is not compatible with a 348x30 rotor. We tested this today and it does not fit." Hi, can you please give us more explanations about why it doesn't fit with the 348mm disc? Is it a clearance issue? And you or anyone know if it is possible to fit the 348mm disc with the F30 4 pots Brembo caliper? Thanks! |

I have been through a couple of different pads on track and posted my experience here. I just wanted to remind everyone here that if you want better braking on street or track, all you really need is suitable pads and brake fluid. You don't actually need a BKK. Take it from someone running a BBK.
Want more bite on street? Get pads with higher friction. They will dust more and things will wear faster, but they feel great. Want legal pads? Sorry they will have roughly the same friction coefficient as oem pads. Want to be able to push lap after lap on track? Get full-on track pads. Not sport pads. Not track day pads. Full track pads. And don't run them on the street. You can get a BBK for many good reasons. Looks. Weight. Adjusted brake bias. Larger pads and more even pad wear. Longer or shorter pedal travel. Lower chance of piston seals leaking due to overheating etc. But ultimately your stopping distance on the street is decided by the tires you run. Not the brakes. The rest is just about feelings. And most of the brake feel will come from the pads and how well they are bedded to the rotors. As an example, I got slightly longer brake pedal travel with my bbk, because the pistons up front were a wee bit larger than OEM, but this was altogether compensated for by running higher friction pads that bite as soon as they hear the shadow of a rotor. On the other hand, you can run the best BBK, and pedal feel will still be terrible if you run terrible pads. |

Newby here...just got myself a 2013 E89 35i M-Sport (UK version)
bolt on mod so far : changed rear 324mm rotors to MTec cross drilled/grooved discs (kept same 324mm size) and Mintex pads.... Question is: seeing all of the above, i am still confused what type of brake kit fits the front - (i m after a BBK / M Performance kit) - OEM discs are 348mm and need changing anyways so i need both disc & caliper that fits snuggly within the 326 M Double-Spoke style 19'' wheels. Help pls |

Will this front brake set-up work? 2009Z4 35i
Referencing post #32:
I have the following 34116799469 + ...70 blue calipers: 1.2 335i M-Sport brakes: 4 piston calipers: 34116799469 + ...70 = BLUEI would like to use a 370mm rotor 34106797603 and it has been said that these work with the other color calipers (see below): 2. 370x30 mm discs with 4-piston-calipers (for min. 18" wheels): 4-piston-calipers yellow: 34106855475 + ...6Also it has been said that the colors of the yellow, red, orange calipers above is the only difference and the reason for a different part number is this also true for the blue as well? So my set-up would be the following: 4 piston calipers: 34116799469 + ...70 = BLUEAgain will this front brake set-up work? I've researched until I am blue in the face (pun intended) I put the blue calipers on with the factory 330mm rotors and it appears that there is plenty of room for the larger 370mm diameter rotor. My 2009 Z4 35i is currently in the shop getting mods and painted so please reply and thanks! Also if this has been answered before I just couldn’t find it. Regards, Brian |

Dear All,
I am wondering has anyone here ever installed a bigger bore brake master cylinder to their Z4 E89? The reason I am asking is that I am looking for a much firmer feel and shorter pedal travel. I appreciate if anyone can shed me light on this. Regards, Elvis |
