Post Weak Horn

Embarrassed to use the horn on this car, I had a 1959 Morris Minor many years ago, with a better horn than this!
I have looked at the horns (yes, two) both located on the driver side (left). I initially thought one was bad, but both do work. I unplugged one and the remaining horn did still sound, I unplugged the other, and the same result... so both are working, but it sounds like only one with both connected.
Could not find anything in Carly, thinking that there was a code to keep one silent. Looked in the manual, nothing except to press the horn button to operate.
Does anybody know if there is a secret way to get both to work? I will most likely end up replacing the OEM's with after market, before too long.
Thanks in advance...!

hmm...
in parts catalogue it says that one horn is for high pitch and the other one is for low pitch...

They should be working together as a dual-tone horn for the best effect...

Quote:
A high-pitched sound tends to disperse more readily, while a low-pitched sound can travel further and penetrate obstacles better. Having both high and low-pitched horns ensures that the car's warning signal can be heard effectively in various environments and conditions.

It's a BMW. Doesn't need horn or turn signals

KP... That is what I thought, high and low pitch. One does look like a typical auto horn, the other is more cylindrical looking. Where can I find the parts catalog?
Javis... Really do need a good horn here in central Florida, to wake up the sleeping old farts at the red lights!
Guess a trip to the dealer to inquire is in order.

Thanks B21, but the illustration shown for the low and high pitch horns do not match what is installed on my vehicle. I wish I had taken a pic, when I had the liner removed... but one of the horns is much different, it is circular or cylindrical in shape, with a plastic grill, and about 3 inches in length.
Will visit the dealer tomorrow to see if they can help.

I am also wondering if what I have is some sort of siren horn, for an alarm perhaps?
I did check the passenger (right) side and did not see any hardware for a horn there.

A little progress... I searched and found this, BMW Z4 E89 ANTI THEFT POWER ALARM SIREN HORN OEM 2009 - 2016 . Cannot post pics, but if you look at eBay item number:305077199180, you will see the pics.
So, it looks like I do not have two horns, but will soon take care of that.

Got the horns off of ebay, and installed the high pitch on the passenger side. Kind of strange, there was no electrical wire with connector on that side. I ended up running a jumper wire from this horn to the other on the driver side, and now I have a respectable horn on the car. I am no longer embarrassed to beep beep any more!
It was not an easy project, had to remove front wheels to get cleanance into the area in front of the wheel, where the horns live... but its done!
Upgrading the interior lights with LEDS, makes car look nicer inside.
