Engine Oil Level Indicator

Cutting to the chase... Just did an oil change on my 2011 3.0 Z4 and used 7 quarts of oil. After the car warmed up, I check oil level via the electronic gage and it's showing lower than max by one block. Shouldn't it be full to max? Does it have to be zeroed like the tire pressure sensor?

No you don't recalibrate it. The engine calls for 7 quarts and if that what you put in, then you're good and your sensor is bad. But give it a chance and check it again in a while. Changing the sensor is easy at your next oil change. It unscrews from the bottom of the pan. Make sure you use a new gasket.
