iPhone audio playback

I’ve recently bought myself a Z4 sDrive 20i M Sport E89 (2016) and love it, however I’m frustrated that I can’t get my iPhone to play through the idrive system. I’ve paired my iPhone and have Bluetooth setup for making calls but not audio.

I can play music via the usb socket under the arm rest but was hoping to play via bluetooth. My previous BMW 320d msport (2012) allowed me to playback music from my iPhone and that didn’t have idrive.

Can anyone help please

Check your vin in a decoder..if you haven’t hot media support then your phone won’t play music..

I'm surprised a 2016 doesn't have Media

A VIN check will confirm it, but looking at your iDrive controller and the top left button will be either CD or Media, press this and see what options you have, Bluetooth for music would be the bottom one.
Screenshot (not my E89) attached shows it without Bluetooth music.

If it's not there then it may be that the module "may" be fitted but it's not coded in, this can be re-coded to allow it if that is the case. Otherwise it would be a hardware swap and recode, a relatively simply job to do.
