Spark plugs - when to replace?
Couldn't find a thread, but how often and are there any warning signs? I wrote down every 120,000kms/75,000miles but dunno why. Tia.

I believe BMW recommends changing them at 45K miles. If you tune the car, I think most people would lean towards 30K miles or even less.
If you start getting misfires in specific cylinders, that could be your warning sign. Its cheap enough and simple to do, just as a preventative measure. I would do the coils as well at the same time. |

My history: stock motor - changed at 25k (just because), changed at 34k (now with FBO) due to misfires (after PR coil swap).
Lots of discussions "elsewhere" on plug options.... |

My 2015 was in for its last service under original 4 year warranty and the protocol was to change the spark plugs. Four years young and only 16k km's on it.
Quite ironically, I brought it back in yesterday as NOW I was getting some intermittent misfiring. |

Seems like this is an old thread but let me revive it. Mine is on at the dealer for a little tlc and despite only 38k on the clock they are recommending changing plugs. They say "every 6 oil changes" which sounds weird. Mine is a 35i so maybe i shouldnt be shocked

For sure, I'm not changing things just for the heck of it.
