In the not too distant future the E89 will fall into that category by younger car buyers who appreciate the beauty of its lines, its scarcity and the reality that its design is classic and will bridge the gap of time. Don't forget BMW made less than 20,000 Z4's per year world wide. Even rarer is a 6 speed which is what I have. I was looking for a Porsche when I found my Z4. When it was rolled out of the garage I fell in love with its looks. The lines are classic. Only time will tell.
Vetracr Well said. I am one of those younger car buyers. I remember seeing the E89 for the first time in a showroom in late 08/early 09 and said to myself "I'm buying one of those someday". That day came last Summer.

There's no agreement on the definition of 'classic car'. But I am sure this E89 will be a very desirable car in the future as it is visually stunning and was produced in relatively small numbers. For example I also own a '69 Mercedes 'Pagoda' SL, generally though of as a 'classic car' by most, and the E89 is equally elegant. The SL was produced 50,000 times in the sixties (then a pretty high volume), the E89 just a bit over twice that. I had a tough time finding me one over the past week!
