Yeah, their coffee used to be better years ago from what I understand (I don't drink coffee). The next bit doesn't appear to be factual or supported based on my search, but at the time it happened, I thought I did see evidence of it. "But they dropped their bean supplier and McD's picked that supplier up, now people like McD's coffee better. No surprise. Bad move on TH's part though."

Tims lost me a long time ago when they switched to factory produced donuts and that was a big blow in quality (they did it so their donuts would remain consistent between their branches that they placed on every block).

The coffee isn't what it used to be either, it does taste worse than McD but I don't think they switched suppliers, maybe just roasting methods to save a buck.

McDonalds coffee has no taste because it is SO DAMN HOT. Ask them to add milk and it's a drop, add more and another drop... ADD SOME FUCKING MILK. It's like ice in europe, apparently ice is made from unicorn piss because europeans are so reluctant to give you any.

LMAO! I go to a trade show in Germany each year. 30 years ago when I went to my first on - I was SHOCKED that you could not get ice anywhere! And I LIKE ice! LOL.

At the hotel bar I got a bourbon on the rocks and there was one small cube in it. Whatever. Ordered another and he said "sorry - I'm out of ice" and showed me the bucket. Not a single customer had been there. He had an ice bucket with a SINGLE cube in it.

It is FAR better today than it used to be - some hotels even have ice machines - but that first year was a big adjustment to me.

They have the same reaction to us - they are not used to unlimited refills, so when you get an American drink and it is FULL of ice the first time - they are mad thinking they are getting ripped off. Till they figure out that refills are free. They are also not used to sub artic cold drinks, and usually don't prefer it.

Funny how different cultures view things.

But it is just dumb. I was sitting on a "beach" (as an aussie i find euro rock beaches a bit meh) and ordered a Campari and soda. It was warm, over 30 degrees. No ice. Drink is warm, like what's the point? I asked for ice and got one cube. FFS fill the cup!!
