Horsepower difference between Z4 and 330i

The N52B30 engine in the 2009/2010 3.0 Z4 is rated at 255Hp. The same N53B30 engine in the E9X 330i is rated at 268HP. What is the difference between the two engines and can the Z4 engine be upgraded to the 330i specs?

Bmw takes an engine and does software magic to tweak performance in different models of cars. If you were able to do this, so would everybody else and we'd all be happy. Ain't gonna happen.

I've read it's to do with the inlet manifold, due to space limitations in the Z4.

Watch the PS and HP ratings. Small differences is measuring standards
