you aren't lying. you don't write in the letter "i was not speeding and the cop is wrong for the stop". there are thousands of people in LA who get out of speeding tickets where they are going 100+ mph. the method is basically to get it dismissed by the officer not submitting the correct and required paperwork by the deadline.

You can plan to spend more than two grand for a decent defense in a first DUI case in California, and more for the DMV administrative hearing that could suspend your license.

In California, there are two charges filed in alcohol related DUI cases: 23152(a), driving while impaired, and 23152(b), driving with blood alcohol over the legal limit of .08%. For $500, you'll get a lawyer who will plead you to one of those charges and tell you what a great job they did by getting the other dismissed... and skip the fact that the fines, license suspension and jail time are the same whether you're convicted of one or both.

It's as if the ticket never happened, so the only cost to cover is the attorney. If the case does not get dismissed, then you have to pay the attorney and whatever the amount of the ticket is. Although you can still ask the court for a fee reduction and the option to do traffic school.

But hmm idk how it is in Calfiornia but here getting a whole ticket fully dismissed doesn't happen unless you are actually right or like prove that you were not speeding for example while in your case you were.

But I wish you best of luck, tickets are such a bitch haha
What happens is the lawyer will talk to the officer before the trial begins at the courthouse to make a deal for a lesser charge or to dismiss the ticket entirely. If not, then they go in front of the judge to argue the case. Some lawyers will not Do that and just ask for fine reduction & traffic school. You don't have to be present unless you plan to testify.

In NYS some courts will let you plea the ticket down to something less. I've had speeds lowered to failure to come to a complete stop.
