Yup plus refs decided to pick up penalty flag.

There are some saying Walton's knee was down based on a picture from the end zone but it is difficult to conclude he still had control of the ball (with one hand) when the knee touched, based on a still shot. Also if we're going to question calls, let's go back to the TD by the Duke QB with 6 seconds left when he didn't really get in, or the earlier (second) pass interference call on an uncatchable pass. Bottom line is Duke should have kicked the field goal on the first drive, tried an onside kick too early and couldn't stop an 8-lateral play. UM handed them 2 points on a safety, gave Duke many "gifts" with 20+ penalties and Duke just couldn't put them away, even with a backup QB starting. Good win for UM, tough loss for Duke.

Not just the question as to whether his knee was down, the refs missed multiple penalties on the play. If fact it was so poorly called that the ACC has suspended the officiating crew for two games... But it was a fun play to watch! You so rarely see these desperation plays succeed.

Honestly, I'm still not sure how they concluded his knee was down based on the video replays available to the replay official (or the picture for that matter), but I give them the missed block in the back early on after watching the play again. Not to justify it, but it isn't shocking something like that was missed on such a crazy play and it was far from the first or last time something like that was / will be missed. The penalty they actually called was wrong, they corrected it by conferring and did a crappy job communicating it, but they correctly fixed a bad call. As far as the guy running on the field goes, he did not affect the play but was a major idiot for doing it. I may be wrong but think it would be a dead ball penalty and wouldn't impact the TD.

Having watched the replays a few more times, I still think the Duke QB didn't make it into the end zone on the earlier 1-yard TD run and also think there was a bad pass interference call against Miami on an uncatchable ball, both of which also had significant impacts on how the game proceeded. Both of those calls were at least as debatable as whether the guy had a knee down in video replays. So I don't have a problem with the refs getting suspended as they did have a crappy day.

Agreed, the officials should have been suspended for the entire game they called. Some of the worst officiating I've seen in a long time....

CFP top 4 released, a lot of football left to be played folks, especially since many teams in the top 10 still needs to play each other. Bama is the head scratcher, but this weekend would sort this one out!

I think another 1-loss team will sneak in this year. But it'll be a SEC team. Sorry Pac-12, Notre Dame and ACC, you're the first three out. Also, I firmly believe the Notre Dame and the ACC team would be mutally exclusive.

Notre Dame can't have their cake and eat it too. They want to play a half-ACC schedule, yet collect all the bowl and TV money, not play a championship game and be considered as an independent for CFP purposes...dream on, I hope the committee qualifies Notre Dame into the ACC for their consideration. Basically, Notre Dame needs to be told, if you play as independent, you need to go undefeated, b/c you don't have a 13th game. Had they been in the ACC, they would have either had a rematch with Clemson in the ACC championship game, or would not have won their division.

Why butthurt? If Bama wins, they've beaten the then current best team in the SEC. They deserve to be considered a top 4 team.

I could see Stanford beating Notre Dame end of the year and that launching them into the 4 team playoff. Besides Clemson who has Notre Dame played, no one. The fact they are 5 is a joke.

Re: the rankings, the committee has made it clear that each week's rankings is an indicator of how teams stack that week. Only in the final week do they consider their overall body of work in addition to that week's championship game. So, week 9-11 cfp rankings are worthless. The committee can get away with this criteria by ranking multiple teams from the same conference in the top 10, even though the conference champion is far from being determined as many still have to play each other. Case in point, only LSU and Bama will be in the top 4 come Tuesday, and Bama is essentially playing an elimination game.

Every team's schedule is questionable. IMO Notre Dame's schedule is better than Ohio State's, no? Who has Clemson played? App State, Wofford and ND, and their win against ND was by only 2 points. If anyone can sneak it, it'll be ND, and in my view, if they are in the top 4, the ACC Champ should be excluded.

I don't think Pac 12 is weak nor strong. It's just conference play, teams tend to beat up on each other. The old adage is correct, no matter how weak your conference is, the fact you can go through undefeated says a lot about how strong your team is. At the end of the year, I guess only 3 teams or fewer can say that they're undefeated in conference play.
