Unpopular opinion and those that are honest enough to admit it:

After a few days… It's growing on me.

It's not the ugliest vehicle in the world as some are deeming it to be, but as the 2nd ever standalone ///M car it's very disappointing because it comes off as any other SUV and not as a Motorsport forward design whatsoever.

What I really wanted this to be was the BMW G wagon. Something that was unique and could stand the test of time. Perhaps it grows on me, I was just hoping for that classic G/Range look and feel with an M engine and all the bells and whistles.

Every time something new comes in, everybody's outraged by something.

Anyway, this car looks very cool, aggressive and fresh. Definitely has the potential to be the king of its segment.
It is an absolutely annoying phenomenon that started way back with, "Merry Christmas" and the Pledge of Allegiance's "….One nation, under God, indivisible and with Liberty…." statement. It has morphed into everything offending everybody. You can't even state that men are biologically different than women these days (…e.g…a scientific fact) without offending someone, but in the same breath they'll tell you to "follow the science" about other things.
This is not outrage culture, no one is cancelling or hurting anyone and the posts have been generally cordial. Both haters and lovers alike are just expressing their opinions. If you come out with outrageous designs like BMW has lately, then you're going to get outrageous comments. Par for the course.

Also, I've been on these auto boards for decades and if there's one thing to know is BMW fans are some of the most passionate, more than fans of other automakers. Thus if we feel BMW is going in the wrong direction (like recent designs), then we are going to call it out with passion.

It's the way it is, it's the way it always has been. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Design isn't everything, being stuck in toxic hate for something regarding the design and ignoring everything else, isn't normal. I mean, if you only care about design, why BMW anyway? They're never been the prettiest cars in the world.
Why is a troll-y comment?
Are you saying that even if the car is plain ugly, you will buy it for the tech?
Being stuck for the design is everything actualy!
For me it is, I walk towards my car, I unlock it, I even loock back when I lock it. It makes me proud to own something that i really love, excites me and represents me and my taste as an individual.

While you might find this car beautiful, I am sure that you have many that you find ugly. i bet that you will not buy an ugly one (for you) just because it has a “Pentium inside”

I have waited for the M3, got the alocation and refuse it when I saw that face. So I bought a super loaded M340i M Performance Edition just because I could not accept M3’s face and that rear door/fender design.
Every time I look at it I congratulate myself for not giving up on my pretentions and my taste.
I, for one, don’t take Viagra to accept a car that will “grow on me”. Sorry.

So yeah, looks matter to many of us.

Some of you can not understand that design is actualy extremely important for many. And if you do your homework, you might be surprised that design is a major component that sells a car.

PS
In all honesty, between this and a KIA I will buy the KIA too.

ITT I learned that if I don't like something I'm outraged, and nothing but praise is to be shared or discussed.

Thank you BMW for failing injectors, water pumps, coolant expansion tanks, and rod bearings.

We appreciate you keeping us engaged and on our toes, skills we wouldn't be able to develop faster than on the side of the road waiting for the lovely tow trucks we've grown to love and admire.

Business idea: BMW tow trucks.

Bruce Wayne's RAV4.

What a ridiculous vehicle, this is cringeworthy stuff from BMW.

I'm sure it'll be swooned over in Dubai and Shanghai but if I ever see one on the road in Europe I'll be amazed.

Maybe that's all BMW needs; sales in China and UAE

All SUVs are ugly, just some less than others. This one though, isn't even trying. As long as this lunatic styling language doesn't make it into BMWs cars I couldn't care less what it looks like, really.

If I ever DO find myself in the market for an SUV it certainly won't be something that looks like that.

I guess there's a chance some people will find the oversized show off grille attractive…

Obviously some people can't afford an education either and it's free. Do you know the meaning of a concept? That is the way BMW is headed in the future meaning our kids will be adults by the time production models look the way this concept looks now.

Sweet, the deer poaching lights above the windshield ought to be a hit with the CMT crowd! Even better, can't wait for other manufacturers with lower-quality lighting components (looking at you Ford, GM, and Toyota) to copy that lighting feature because there just is not enough cheap LED lighting glare from oncoming traffic at night.

It's not bad in my opinion. The grill is huge granted but the rest has some interesting ideas. It has presence, it looks premium(more so than any competitor imo, even the Urus looks tame in comprison, let alone the Cayene or Bentayga) and militaristic. Still, it looks like it can't decide what it wants to be; a sport uber SUV or a posh, luxury one.

The problem will be the production version. The sleeker features(headlights, rear lights, bumpers) will probably be replaced with conventional stuff and I kinda dread that.

It is obvious from the spyshots the production headlights are just as slim and sleek as the concept's, with the only difference the lower units seem to have a clearer glass than the concept's extremely tinted one and therefore won't blend into the bumper quite as perfectly; the taillights are close to the concept's in shape and likely in slimness too since it is now technically feasible, the prototype's are obviously still covered with thick cladding.

Maybe you like Mercedes concept better?

It seems BMW is not the only one going for massive grill.

Guess what, I like XM way better than this.
