New horse in the stable: 2016 Z4 sDrive35is in Estoril Blue

I have been considering an E89 Z4 for some time now as I have wanted a convertible and specifically wanted a convertible hard top for many reasons. I am a long time car guy and a big BMW fan. I also own a 2018 M550i in Mediterranean Blue and previously I owned a 2004 BMW M3 in Midnight Blue. I stared my search for a yellow Z4, because I had a yellow (CYM) 1993 RX-7 and well I am partial to yellow sport cars. After some near misses, I can across this 2016 Estoril Blue Z4 sDrive35is with Technology and Cold Weather Packages. The car only had 4110 original miles and well I am a sucker for rare paint colors (for a given car) and even more so in blue. In the end, well I could not pass this one up. I got the car the Saturday before Christmas. I just had it detailed with PPF added to the front end and ceramic top coat over everything. I think it turned out great and could not be happier. I also swapped out the antenna for a shorty (Amazon for $10). I have the European oddments tray coming from Europe, because the factory setup with two cup holders and the molded phone adapter is useless. I have enjoyed reading all the threads on this site and look forward to lightly modding this car while learning from everyone. Cheers and happy New Year!

Thanks. I think I saw in another post you were from TN and stuck in China. I think I even saw for 20 years? If that is right then that sounds like home.

I hear you on the holes. It had the front plate and well that had to go. I didn't want to repaint the entire front bumper so bumper plugs it was.

I have never been a wheel spacer guy. The wheels not sitting flush doesn't bother me. I might try it at some point on this car just because, but it is way down the list.

Congrats! Great looking Z! Amazing you were able to find one with that few miles. Now that car needs to be drivin!
I think the plugs look just fine and I too have never been a fan of spacers. Of course a matter of taste but I think looks much better stock.
Beautiful car!

Thanks! My target would be to drive it between 3k and 4k miles a year. Does that qualify as driven?

Z4 is actually my daily and i do 4000-5000 miles a year. I live close to everything so short trips all the time. So it definitely qualifies as driven!

BTW beautiful car! Enjoy!

Wow only 5k miles in a year for your car and it is your daily. I don't even know what that looks like. My wife does 15k a year (before covid-19) and I did 12k a year in the M550.

Thanks for the note. I will enjoy the car to the fullest once the weather improves. Too cold and too much bad weather right now.

Awesome... They are beautiful looking things. Even with the latest G29, these E89s are still so beautiful looking. Mine is the Valencia Orange 5 year old and 10k miles and a long keeper too. Enjoy it!

I live in a smaller city 60 miles from the capital. And i live in a city center where everything is close, less than half a mile to supermarket, 2 miles to any of the local malls, 2 miles to the office. Estonia is a small country: 190 miles from north to south and 218 miles from east to west. So i can get from one end of the country to the opposite like in 3 hours. Also i live 20 miles from the shore, so seaside twisty roads are only 20 miles away. Biggest summer resort of the north coast where i go often is like 30 miles away. Put all this together and you dont accumulate many miles. A car isnt really that necessary here. Its more like a luxury thing.

I really like the Valencia Orange color as well. Did you get the Hyper Orange interior too?

The unicorn reference sounds like someone I know. I had the local dealership want to buy the car this week. I said no.

Beautiful car. Congrats. Can't stop driving my 2016 Z4 35is. Exhaust makes a nice sound. Had it for a year and I put over 8k miles on it. Not my daily, and not been commuting to work since COVID. All get-away-from-home-wife-kids miles 😂. Enjoy!

Thanks. How many miles do you normally drive? I love the hyper orange interior. Heck probably wish it was in my car! What color is your top?

I normally put ~18k miles per year on my 550, mostly commuting to work and chauvering the kids around town.

I was lucky to find this individual Z4 last year in Jan. The top is glacier silver metallic. I looked for a while for this combination.
