Hardtop opening via key for USA

Hello,

I have the USA national version of the E89 which does not have the possibility (without CA) to open the hardtop via key. Is it possible to code that option? Anyone did that?

Yes I had it done. I have the US version of the car and do NOT have comfort access. I had to hire someone who specializes in BMW coding to do it. I dont think you can do it yourself with the Carly app. Now I can open the roof with my key fob. But it does not work for closing it. Only open

No idea, I hired someone who came with his laptop and plugged into the OBDI interface. Took about an hour total, he did lots of stuff. See if you can find a BMW coding specialist in your area, or on these forums.

Did you get it done?

If not, here is what I did. Buy the smart top box. About 200.00. Will allow you to remotely open and close. And will aloow one touch key operation from inside the cabin. Took me about 20 minutes to install. Most of that time was getting to the plastic trim plugs.

Just works and easy.

I was thinking about this - where did you buy it?

I'm in Australia. You can go directly to their website (smartop) and find a dealer near you or buy from directly.

BTW. It also allows you to set the behaviour of your windows when top is closed or opened
