Boot locked, roof down need help please...

Hi folks,

First post on this forum so hello to everyone.

Ultimate issue this morning. Z4 E89 2009 23sdrive manual...

Roof down/no access to the boot/ no means to get the roof back up....

This history: I Installed a roof module to allow remote key fob opening/locking ( www-cabrio-module.de). This was installed okay and I was pleased, then some time later the roof would not go down. Suspecting it was the rear boot lock mechanism I investigated that and even ordered a new one. It turned out not to be that but the the roof module - the boot lock would not give the classic lock mechanism noise as is normal. . So I didn't install the new boot mechanism and kept it as a spare. All has been well now for a month. Then horror of horror with the roof down I couldn't get the roof to go back up. I thought it's the roof module again. Unable to gain access to where the module is due to the roof I'd try disconnecting the battery power and then reconnect to get the module to function again.

I have since found out since that 'this' roof module is a bit unreliable but I thought it was maybe just a one off.

I closed the boot to see of the locking module would work again to get the roof up and get the erratic module out. It didn't give the locking mechanism noise.
Except now I can't get the boot open. aaahhhh nightmare....

The battery is connected but the negative lead is in position but not tightened (as I was still trying to get the problem sorted). So the car starts and the central locking works but I can't get the boot open now.

Looked at old posts but I'm stuck. Don't want to go to the dealer as funds are at rock bottom. Car is in the garage so at least safe and dry.

I have a ski hatch - but of course the roof is down.

I have a new battery unstalled in April this year.

Anybody any ideas please?

(I wil be taking that roof module out and back to standard if I get to that point)

Evening Robbi,

I read you had left the other forum - I didn't catch the full story but they just don't appreciate your smooth talking....

Yes that is me on the other post..

I can't come to Germany at the moment as the border is closed.... 600km to Munich I would need to make sure it will not be bad weather with a roof down... Although if I could I would never refuse a visit to Munich you know.

Seriously I could contact Steiger-Neuffen but what could they do to help if I can't get to Munich?

Regards

Mark

I won't talk anymore, so who cares? Only as business, not anymore for ignorants and trolls.

Well, to Neuffen/Stuttgart its only 400km. And we deliver valuable support everywhere, just read the linked homepage.

Thanks Robbi,

Not ignorant (lacking knowlege in many matters but I put my hands up to that) and I leave the trolls to 'Lord of Rings'

It's 522km for me to drive to Neuffen with the roof stuck in the down position for the whole journey and no access to the boot/trunk.

I'll make the call to Staiger tomorrow and see where to take things.
