The armrest ‘ coffee cups is completely unrelated to the other issues…

Sounds like you have a major fault…assuming the battery is in good condition and fully charged you need a code reader to make any further sense of matters..

If the trunk, armrest, cup holder section, and convertible top are all experiencing issues, it could be related to a central electrical or control module problem. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:

1. Check the Fuses: Inspect the fuses related to the trunk, convertible top, and interior components. A blown fuse could be the cause of multiple issues.

2. Battery Voltage:Ensure your car's battery has sufficient voltage. Low voltage can lead to various electronic malfunctions.

3. Central Locking System:Try unlocking the car using the key fob and the central locking button inside the car. Sometimes, a reset of the central locking system can resolve issues.

4. Manual Trunk Release Lever:Most cars, including BMWs, have a manual trunk release lever inside the trunk. It's often a glow-in-the-dark handle that you can pull in case of emergencies.

5. Diagnostic Scan: If the issues persist, a diagnostic scan with a BMW-specific scanner may reveal fault codes pointing to the source of the problem. Professional diagnostic tools like INPA or Carly can provide detailed information.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, it's recommended to consult with a BMW dealership or a qualified automotive technician. Complex electronic issues often require specialized knowledge and tools for accurate diagnosis and repair.

Open your drivers door. Down on the left side of the sill there is a trunk button, does that work?
Btw, do the power windows work?
