OEM N55 Valve cover. Experience?

The N55 has been used in so many models I figured posting here would cast the widest net.

I need to replace the gasket and at 60k miles I don't want to have to pay a shop to go back in at 70k, 80k miles over a cracked cover or failed PCV so I'm looking for experience with the service life of the non-genuine part.

It appears that there are about three suppliers at 1/2-2/3 cost of the Genuine BMW part with 2-3 yr warranty.

Comment away and TIA.

Genuine OEM VC and vcg via fcp euro. Can't say about other brands, only used OEM. I didn't want to have to deal with it for a while.

Had an Indy replace my gasket about 4 years ago. Sorry I didn't replace the valve cover then. Just replaced the valve cover and used a BMW oem valve coverfrom FCP Euro.

I wouldn't mess around with after market valve covers. Do it once and do it right.

I used an off brand replacement and have had zero issues.

And an oem gasket. It's a Mahle vc with the logo covered. The Mahle is an OE with the bmw logo covered. The oe is just a Mahle with a bmw logo. There are so many instances of this kind of parts supply chain in our a cars and all major manufacturers. Can't post the FB thread where many people have used the above combo with no problems.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately it doesn't fit for my MY (2015). PWG vs EWG?

I don't see why that would matter, my EWG cover still had the (unused) connections for the vacuum lines that the PWG uses.

Yeah the vac port is due to auto or manual I believe, not the turbo.

Not sure about that, the reference video I used for the replacement had the vacuum lines and was an auto like mine

OP, realoem shows one PN 11127570292 that runs from 2008-2019 on various chassis https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...&q=11127570292

If I were set on replacing the whole thing I would just go Mahle for the cover and gasket since its the OEM.

I have a small oil leak at the back of the block that drips on my downpipe.. I'm at 69K, do I just do the entire valve cover since I'd have to do the gasket anyway?

Do both now. Otherwise you will have to change the valve cover later like I did. Do it once and do it right.

I had the same as you and had Bmw do my valve cover under warranty. They fail as miles go up so better off just doing it
