phone dialing issue

I have a '15 z4. My iphone is paired. When I try to use the phone button it automatically dials the first number on my contact list. I can't make an out going call. No problem with incoming calls. Any suggestions?

Suggestion #1: Read the manual

But since you asked; A short press on the steering wheel phone button is a redial command. You have to do a long press to pull up the phone menu. Then press the arrow buttons to scroll thru the phone book. When the number you want to call is displayed, press the phone button to dial it.

Alternately, you can use the menu button on the radio (I'm assuming you don't have the iDrive) to find the number and press the phone button to dial.

Pressing the phone button will also answer an incoming call and end an active call.
